Hovering Angel

Music and lyrics by Claudia Anderson

Every face looks inside
Chairs placed in lines
Where do I sit
Where do I belong
Hearing this strange man
Robotic and rote
His words break your heart and
He says the same thing
No matter the day and I
Stare at the faces as
This life turns to verses that
No one believes anymore

Every face looks inside
Towers of flowers
Where do I look
Who looks at me
Can’t smell the flowers
Fresh in December
Delivered in rain mist
Once in a lifetime
We’re rushing and everyone here
Stops and hears a story of going
Everyone knows of twin brothers
Long ago sat in their sailor suits

Will you come to me
If I think of you
Will you come again and again

Every face looks inside
Gritting her teeth
How can she be here
What does she need
Searching the room and
Beige colored carpet
Coats disappearing
Time moving slowly
Fingering albums of
Black and white photos
Look back one more time with a breath
No one wants to let the light in

Will you come to me
If I think of you
Will you come again and again
